La Patrie Hybrid CW Nylon-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural (Natural)

La Patrie Hybrid CW Nylon-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural (Natural) Review

Buy From Amazon.com

The Hybrid CW is the nylon-stringed guitar for the acoustic-electric player who, like most of us, is not necessarily a classical guitarist. As the name suggests, the Hybrid has mixed origins derived from traditional nylon-stringed guitars and a desire to meet the needs of modern guitar players.Hand-crafted in LaPatrie, Quebec, this smooth-sounding nylon-stringed guitar features a solid cedar top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with a classical 2" (5.1 cm) nut width. However, this classical nut width won't seem so traditional when you feel the unique radiused fingerboard. Not only does it allow for faster playability, but also for a new level of comfort not readily available on a standard classical nylon-string fingerboard. Although the Hybrid's neck width and string spacing are sized to classical guitar standards, a truss rod allows for a thinner neck profile. Besides the new comfort of the radiused fingerboard, the Hybrid also allows for access to the upper frets via a cutaway body. Some other esthetic goodies include cream binding, a detailed sound-hole rosette and a hand finished, contoured headstock. As with all acoustic models in the Godin family only genuine lacquer finish is used, allowing the top to breathe and vibrate freely. This strong belief in applying genuine lacquer translates into a guitar that will experience and benefit from the aging process...the more the instrument is played, the better it will sound over time. For the gigging/working musician the Hybrid CW comes standard issue with Godin Quantum II electronics and the innovative TRIC (Thermal regulated instrument case) to thermally protect and securely house the Hybrid CW.

Seagull Coastline S12 Cedar QI Guitar

Seagull Coastline S12 Cedar QI Guitar Review

Seagull Coastline S12 Cedar QI Guitar Feature

  • Made in North America
  • Select Pressure Tested Top
  • Double Action Truss Rod
  • Tapered Headstock for precise and stable tuning and great for open tunings
  • Tusq nut and compensated saddle for better intonation

Seagull Coastline S12 Cedar QI Guitar – Superior Construction

The Seagull Coastline S12 is a 12-String acoustic-electric dreadnought guitar with rich, full sound that only a quality 12-string guitar can produce. With a warm mid-range tone and of course, the award winning craftsmanship and value for which Seagull is known, the S12 features an ultra thin semi-gloss finish, a select pressure tested solid cedar top, and built-in Godin QI electronics that let you hit the stage fully loaded for any venue.

Coastline Cedar 12 String

Twelve string guitars must endure a great deal of added stress on the neck. The Seagull neck design offers superior stability, even on the twelve string models tuned to concert pitch. The straight string pull of the tapered Seagull headstock is an especially big advantage when it comes to tuning a twelve string guitar and keeping it in tune.

Coastline Series

The guitars that make up the Seagull Coastline series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Coastline series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also a choice. Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

Godin QI Electronics

The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

A History of Quality

In 1982 Robert Godin and a few friends produced the first Seagull guitars in the Village of LaPatrie, Quebec. The concept for the Seagull guitar was to take the essential components of the best hand-crafted guitars (such as solid tops and beautiful finishes) and build these features into guitars that could be priced within the reach of working musicians. Of course there is much more to a great guitar than a solid top with a special finish, so we produced this illustrated guide to help you gain some understanding of the basic elements of a great sounding acoustic guitar.

The Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today, La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build. Pick one up and you'll see why.

La Patrie Motif Classical Guitar Natural Review

The Motif Classical Guitar from La Patrie has a solid cedar top, laminated mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, gold "lyra" style tuners with pearloid buttons, and a semi-gloss satin finish. The Motif takes its compact dimensions from turn-of-the-century parlor guitars. This is an excellent instrument for anyone more comfortable with a smaller instrument. The compact body of the Motif suggests a 3/4 size instrument but this is a full-scale guitar. Most children from about six years old can handle the Motif quite comfortably and because they are practicing on a full-scale switching to a full size classical guitar can be accomplished with very little adjustment. There is more to the compact body style of the Motif than comfort, this is a serious guitar with many of the same features that professional guitarists look for in the best handcrafted instruments. The solid cedar top and genuine lacquer finish ensure that this g

The wood used in these tops can be found only in cedar trees that have an average age of about 800 years. The tight, straight grain in this wood makes it strong in the direction of the string tension while at the same time flexible across the grain lines. It is this combination of rigidity and flexibility that gives the top its resonance. The vibration of the guitar top is the most crucial ele
